I think I did it again. Last year, I wound up just not having time for the October Contest. This year, time has just slipped by. It's almost 11 oclock, and I haven't written anything beyond the outline. I'm tired. Part of me wants to just stay up, and write until it's done. Another part wants to go to bed and wake up early. The only problem with that is I've met myself. I won't get up. And I have to work tomorrow, so I may not have time to actually do anything.
12 Mountain time is 1 Pacific, right? So I have until 1am Sunday morning? Hmm. I think I'll just try to stay up tonight. I can sleep in a little tomorrow. I've got the story in my head. I even have the ending, which is always the hardest part for me. I just need to, you know, write it down.

I'm going to bed with about a third of my story done. That includes some beginning, some middle, and some end, but not the core stuff of the story, the scenes that were supposed to make this story what it is. Kind of worried I don't actually have enough ideas for those or won't have enough room for them to make the story what I hoped.
I'll need to really focus tomorrow, which is tough with my mental health issues, but it's also good motivation for handling those correctly.

Oh. Right. i'm not Pacific time. I'm Eastern time. How stupid of me.
So I'm 2 hrs later. That means 12 for you is 2 am for me. So I've got till 2 am on Sunday to fix this mess I've written.
I got over 3,000 words, and it's not done. It's going to be a rushed piece of crap, I know it. I am not satisfied at all. And it's 1 in the morning. I don't know if I'm going to make it for this contest.

I'm about two-thirds done, getting tired, and really unsure of this story. If I don't finish it in time, I won't be too upset. It's not going in the direction I wanted and I'm not sure what it's trying to be anymore. Might have also mentioned more plot threads than I can give enough attention to throughout the story.

That sounds so familiar. It was me for the Legends contest. All 8 attempts kept going in directions I didn't want and none of the stories had that spark, ya know? I can't explain it but it wasn't ever what I wanted until two days before the contest and I finally spit out a good story. It's so hard to force ideas. Don't fret too much if it doesn't work out, but I do hope to see it posted in the fiction forum anyways! |

I do still like the idea. Basically, I write way out of order. And I barely wrote any of the parts that have to do with a certain major aspect of the plot. Now that the story is almost finished, I realize there may not be much room for that aspect of the plot anymore, and leaving it out really changes the type of story this is.

Is that a bad thing? Does it still fit the prompt? Sometimes if the story goes in a totally different direction than expected, it's still okay, just different. Hard to adjust our expectations sometimes, though. |

I am literally just submitting mine, I think I have 7 minutes left. Trying to get the BB code in order. 
EDIT: WHEW! Right down to the wire, I think I got it in at 11:58 MDT. I didn't stick with my original story. I submitted one that I began last night, then worked on it this morning and again this evening until about 45 minutes ago. I had my husband give it a once-over (plus his stamp of approval - I told him I wouldn't submit it if it was garbage) and slapped the first title on it that came to mind.
