Almost there. Tomorrow I'll probably finish my job an hour or two late, so it's a crunch, but I really hope I can make it.
Somehow this story feels like it takes much more work than usual. It's fun work; I haven't enjoyed writing a story this much in my adult life. But with researching noir, coming up with all the different parts of this story, and writing, this is such a high-effort contest for me.

I still did not make any progress on mine this past weekend due to work problems edging into my free time, so I don't think I'll make it unless I want another unpolished story like October's. I definitely want to keep the idea I have for another time, though.

Much luck to all contestants. I look forward to reading the stories.
Be interesting to see how each author interpreted the essence of the genre since I'm not sure any of us truly grasped the concept at the get-go.
Personally, I still don't think I truly "got it" at the end either and have a feeling it's going to be quite the experience reading what others made of it.
Just hope I don't fall flat on my face too badly.
