Hello. For my being allowed to participate in this forum, I am grateful.
First, I want to say that, for me, there are no topics more interesting me than language, rhetoric, and writing.
But I have struggled greatly to master such skills, and have come short; because there was nothing for me to write about, because it is no easy task to master revision. And even now, such skills are difficult for me, especially that of invention.
The most difficult thing for me, among all skills of writing to master, is invention, though, for the longest time, I could hardly write a decent sounding sentence. But it is doubtful that now, I will consistently write good sentences in the future, nor do I boast of having written any good sentence either now or in the past.
So what I have come here to learn is this: language, rhetoric, and writing, especially of phrasing, especially of invention.
In this post, I did not first write a rough draft, but as I drafted, I revised.
Please be mindful that, as I post on this forum, my writing may fluctuate from good to bad, and from bad to good, or otherwise turn into prose with the most awful sound, myself doubting this: if I am able to write well consistently; not with the claim that I'm doing so now.

First of all welcome. There is always positive and constructive feedback to be found here so do not think that anyone will think less of you if you make a mistake. As for the quality of words, this is a much more difficult subject to definitively comment on here. I know for one most of what I write is absolutely garbage, but this is why we edit and revise and rewrite. This is the art of authoring, not merely putting words on a page, but perfecting those words over time.
Having said that, there is no need for formality when commenting or interacting in the forums. No one is going to care if you sound like a poet when discussing music. So relax, have fun and enjoy yourself. That is the purpose of writing after all... to have fun. Yes?
There is, among all the most viable tools for the production of rhythm in prose, the utilization of variety in sentence structure, and application of patterns out of that enormous syntactic repertoire which I hope to built up for myself of the English language. Moreover, the figures of speech in rhetoric are most excellent.

Oh, gosh, I don't think any of us here, or any writer anywhere in the world (who has an ounce of humility) will claim to write a decent sounding sentence all the time. Humans are full of error and words are imperfect tools often wielded most imperfectly, so we're all here to learn together and help each other write better. No pressure ever. I hope you'll just dive in and have fun as you toss words together.
Alatariel: Foxxglove, I made a character and then immediately became too intimidated to even do anything with her. So. No worries. I'm right there with ya.

FoxxGlove: @ Alatariel. Comforting to know I'm not the only one. Are you going to give it a shot anyway?
Nov 25, 2021 14:55:41 GMT -6
Alatariel: Prob not, because I don't understand half of what's going on or how to participate in the right way.

pelwrath: My wishes that all of you, your family, and friends, enjoy a happy, blessed, and safe Thanksgiving Day.

pelwrath: I’ll try and work on my main quest intro tonight.
Nov 25, 2021 15:25:13 GMT -6
FoxxGlove: @ Alatariel. I hear ya. Starting to feel very much the same way.

ScintillaMyntan: I never understood it, from the beginning. I thought it was going to be like roleplaying, like with a game master determining things with dice? But no, it's not? Eh, well.
Nov 25, 2021 16:43:51 GMT -6
Alatariel: It's more like an interactive writing RPG. Seems really cool and detailed, I've just never done anything like it before so watching and reading helps me gain confidence to try it in the future.

whaleworkforfood: Happy Thanksgiving to all those who are celebrating in the States!

Bird: Y'all, litterbug junction IS role-playing. Not all role-playing games use GM/DM's... (Some of my favorites don't. Like Ten Candles, Archives of the Sky, and some variants of StarForged.) And some role-play games don't use dice at all.
Nov 26, 2021 18:30:24 GMT -6
Bird: Though litterbug's style is very much more oriented on a sort of written-version of improv in a world-setting that folks might not be used to yet. that can seem big at first. i think talking it out - like how you wanna do it helps
Nov 26, 2021 18:31:19 GMT -6
Bird: Which suffice to say, Litterbug has an over-arching world-master but not in the style of DnD (which isn't hte only role-play game out there but DnD and pathfinder are the most famous sadly enough)
Nov 26, 2021 18:33:11 GMT -6
Bird: I need to write again but I just haven't felt well enough to finish my solo quest yet. lol but if y'all wanna talk it out how to do stuff like this, let me know. it's my jam

ScintillaMyntan: I've done regular tabletop roleplaying a few times; never got into D&D/Pathfinder but have liked some other, less combat-oriented ones.
Nov 26, 2021 18:59:56 GMT -6
ScintillaMyntan: I can't say I quite understand how Litterbug works, like how would a player determine whether or not something they tried to do was successful?
Nov 26, 2021 19:00:34 GMT -6
ScintillaMyntan: Wish my own tabletop roleplaying group would do it more. But the guy who runs the games is constantly busy.

Bird: Caulder lets us choose our system. Raveneye does dice rolls. I experimented with dice rolls -- I'm thinking I'll simplify it by using the Iron/Starforged "moves" rules. Or one could avoid that and just write a story too
Nov 26, 2021 21:59:40 GMT -6
Bird: Archives of the Sky is a good example of a system that doesn't have "Success/fail" rolls. The system has 'roles' each player takes per "turn," and they tell a story together within agreed on parameters and with brainstorm cards.
Nov 26, 2021 22:03:00 GMT -6
Bird: so each "turn" means that player is the lead narrator, other players adopt the other roles and assist the lead narrator (and voice their own characters). By end of session each player has a chance at lead narrator.
Nov 26, 2021 22:03:52 GMT -6
Bird: So in a way LItterbug junction is like that.
