Woot! Entry posted! It's kinda frustrating. I cut my story down to what looks like 100 in Word, then plug it into the Word Count Tool to make sure, and the word count drops to 98. What the heck is Word counting as words? Oh, well. I got to replace two words that I hated to delete anyway.

The 13th, you say? Ugh....that gives me like two days to throw something together. Plus, the Ruin/Rise deadline is fast approaching. I better get a wiggle on.....

I am dropping the ball this month, apparently. Chaos of christmas, apparently. I'll go over them all and ensure that it's all sorted

So, for this newest challenge, do we have to use the word "folklore" among the 100? Or is that just a loose overall prompt? Just wanna make sure I don't flub it up.

I'm going to say the same all the time. It's 100% up to interpretation. I won't ding you for not using a word, so long as it's in the spirit of the prompt! ^^

I'm kinda surprised more folks aren't doing these. Hmm...

To be honest, I'm also surprised the 100 Word Weekly Challenge is not more popular. It was a huge success on the previous LF Board. So much so, that I took it upon myself to write little comments on all the submitted stories, after voting had taken place. However, there has been a lot going on since the new LF came into being. First, NaNoWriMo and then the "Ruin/Rise" contest with its associated voting and critiques. I'm hopeful interest will pick up once the initial dust has settled. Maybe it needs to be advertised a little better?

While advertising could work, maybe upping the points?
Granted, I should be participating in them more too. XD Though it feels cheating because I pick the prompts. I'm not going to fuss too much with the holiday weekend following the contest and NaNo... Just need to advertise more - OR maybe have a few hosted in Discord to see if that plays to spark some fun.

I'm sure nobody would accuse you of cheating simply because you run the forum, Aubrey. I, for one, would love to read your stories.

Oof! Hope I didn't screw this up. I never did these before because I'm absolutely horrible at trimming things down into a neat little story. Even a short story, let alone 100 little words! This was tough, but fun.

Oof! Hope I didn't screw this up. I never did these before because I'm absolutely horrible at trimming things down into a neat little story. Even a short story, let alone 100 little words! This was tough, but fun. It IS tough! In the old forum, I never put my hand to the weekly, b/c I thought, "Hell, it's hard for me to write anything comprehensible that's less than 1000 words. I'll never manage 100." So this has been amazing practice at capturing a single thought/moment/whatever. Just as challenging as I expected, but way more fun than I thought it would be.

For the most part, I tend to be a very over-flowery descriptive composer of tales, so 100 word challenges really help me to trim away the fat. To be honest, when I first gave these types of challenges a shot, I never ever thought I'd make it down to the word limit and still produce something that was even comprehensible by way of a complete story.
