Monday, September 20, is the last day I will accept submissions for the Compendium.
In these final hours, I am accepting only Legends Contest fiction and poetry. The window for other contest content has closed.
Please follow the instructions AT THIS LINK to submit your poems and/or fiction by the end of September 20. Tuesday, September 21 will be too late.
Thanks to everyone who has already sent me their stories and poems! Your participation in our first issue is priceless.

Bylines.
I'm surprised by how many submissions are missing bylines. If you were submitting your stories to a magazine other than the Compendium, would you not tell the editor who you are?
Standard Manuscript Format will prevent many a rejection. I.E. probably not a good idea to expect editors to go the extra mile and actually ask who wrote what. I will send files back with markups. Please edit them with the appropriate information.
Another requirement I'll have to remember to add next year is which contest/challenge the piece is from. I'm having to track down all that info over a year's worth of activities. Ugh.

Ah, sorry. Sounds like a ton of work. I know I didn't include bylines because I wasn't really sure how to format it. Okay that sounds weird. I've done standard manuscript formatting many a time but it felt weird putting it in the top corner with my name and address and email and all of that. I don't really want that known? So I guess I just erased myself entirely. Blah. I hate when I feel uncertain and go too far one way and just mess it up completely.

That's the contact info snail-mail submissions once required. But a byline? If nothing else, I need to make sure I credit the right author with the right story/poem. I don't remember who wrote what last month, much less a year ago. By this time next year, when we repeat this process, we'll all be pros at this, no worries. This is all a learning experience for everyone.

SUBMISSIONS PERIOD IS CLOSED!
A huge thanks to everyone who put something toward the first-ever issue! Submissions, advice, encouragement, help, all of it.
Now to not screw things up on my end. I might need a beta tester to click all the links and make sure they all work for someone besides myself and to catch any last-second errors in the text. Anyone who can work with Word docs is welcome to click away. Just let me know. I will be uploading a test document to Smashwords to make sure some formatting choices aren't disastrous. If things are screwed up at that point, I will seek further help.
