ChatGPT: An Open AI that answer questions and generate text based on the input it receives. There has been an ongoing debate among the lit community as the program has been used to help author's develop their story. There are even videos of people mentioning how they've gotten their book published because of the program.
I'm on the fence regarding this subject. On one hand it might be useful if a writer is stuck on a story and uses GPT as a means to help them on their writing journey. But I'm also concerned if it hinders the author's creativity by over relying on the AI to develop the story thus limiting the author's creativity or writing voice.
Where do you stand on this?

Hmm, torn. It would be nice to have suggestions if I get stuck on plot stuff, but I hope I would never rely on AI to write my story for me. That's the pleasure of creativity. That said, it would be fun to toy around with for short works and see what comes of it. On Mastodon I ran into artists who are using AI to create their artworks or book covers. MidJourney is what the AI is called. The results are stunning. For example: Would LOVE to play around with this too for book covers. Edit: Well, I learned MidJourney is done via Discord and gives access to 25 freebies before subscriptions become necessary. So let the tinkering begin! Do you know if ChatGPT is like this, Valhalla? Edit again: When I gave MidJourney bot the prompt "Egypt Camels" it returned these four images. Aren't the camels cute?! <3 Edit Yet Again: OMG. I typed in "young sorcerer fire" and got some creepy kids. Young! Not children! Sheesh, this AI is literal to the extreme. Gotta get more specific, apparently.

If I could only figure out MidJourney🤪
Honestly ChatGPT is completely free to use. I only use it for Fanfiction purposes, though. I once had it write me an alternate ending to Supernatural. The results left me emotional but in a good way the I’m not crying you’re crying way.

Things like this make me leery. But I really really really want to try it. MidJourney was so simple (I was surprised). If you have your own Discord (or create one) go into the server's Settings, click App Directory, search for MidJourney and apply. Like, seriously, that's all it took. Then in your server, type /imagine, then whatever prompt words you want it paint. Done. I'm sure I'll run through my 25 freebies in no time flat.

I think I'm the only one hopeful about this new AI. I want it to be the beginning of the Thunderhead from the Arc of the Scythe series. A perfect and benevolent AI that basically runs everything. Those books are so good. The portions directly from the Thunderhead are incredibly poignant. The observations on humanity and how much it takes its job to care for humanity very seriously. It made me ache for that kind of future utopia.
Some quotes:
Most people see this as the beginning of SkyNet, but not me. Hopefully. Most likely it'll be used for profit of some kind.

I think it's a useful tool. You can create as many images as you like with AI, but still, only you have the ability and the will to sit down and write the story you want to create. I could see how some people could maybe become obsessive over it, though, in search of that "perfect" image. I've personally been using MidJourney off and on since August. Mostly just for fun and to test the AI's interpretations/limitations, but I've definitely tried making some images for inspiration, too. A good portion are duds, but occasionally you get those stellar images.
The thing that blows my mind is the people that say they're professional "AI Artists." Like, what? Can you really be an artist because you've figured out how to string words together for an AI to respond a certain way? Some of the image prompts I've generated so far:

Holy moly, these are so gorgeous! Would you mind sharing your prompts/commands/settings for these images? I'm ending up with quite a few duds and need to see what generates successful results. Professional AI artist??? Okay, then, I want THAT job. Sheesh.

What prompts did you use to get the characters to look like they were supposed to? I'm having lots of trouble getting MidJourney to paint my characters.

Holy moly, these are so gorgeous! Would you mind sharing your prompts/commands/settings for these images? I'm ending up with quite a few duds and need to see what generates successful results. Professional AI artist??? Okay, then, I want THAT job. Sheesh. Sure! In order of the ones I posted above (as examples):
1.) middle earth --v4 (LOL, I wanted to see what it would do and I wasn't disappointed with the results)
2.) irish myth, kelpie, dark, death, --v4
3.) Amate, to terrify --v4 (an interesting word I came across and I wanted to see how the AI would interpret it)
4.) smooth scales, serpentine snake-like creature with wings, dark, menacing --v4 (I've found that just typing "dragon" doesn't always render well, but finding ways to describe a dragon turns out better)
5.) unraveling face, octane render, 4k
6.) amate --v4 (again, testing how the AI would interpret it)
There are loads of tricks I haven't learned, but:
Ending prompts with --v4 seems to give you more detailed/crisp images. As you can see, most of the ones I posted were --v4 variations. There are some other commands I haven't played with too much like --v3, v2, and v1 as well. --test is another one I've experimented with, which gives 2 images but takes more time to generate them.
You can also specify: art styles (Van Gogh, Da Vinci, anime, chibi), engines (Octane Render, Unreal Engine), resolutions (4k, 8k), aspect ratios (like --ar 16:8).
Words that I've found have yielded really interesting results with different prompts: "cinematic," "neon," "glow," "split," "shimmering," "fae," "shadow," "sketch," "blueprint."
