At the Walküre Nightclub
Blanche is a good liar. Her life depends on it. Every coquettish cut of her eyes, a lie. Every sweet nothing sung from stage. Every smile cast toward these gray-clad officers.
She’d been flirting with Oberstleutnant Dietrich for weeks. Tonight he buys her a drink. She takes him home. Like Delilah, she gives him a little love. Like Samson, he tells her his secrets. In two weeks, his artillery will deploy to Belgium.
That Blanche will pass this secret to the resistance isn’t the half of it. Dietrich and his cohorts will be undone by a woman. And a Jew.

What’s a Gumshoe to Do?
I returned to my office. The repairs were perfect.
Sam and his guys always do splendid work.
I sat on my desk, opening the envelope, five pictures, a wad of cash, and a letter spilled out. Mr. Ichtaka Neuri, My name is Selona Davies, I believe my husband, Alvarez, is cheating on me. Prove it true or me wrong, but I expect truth and proof, not words. Pictures of his cars, him, and one-thousand dollars to cover the first month. More, if you need it, each month.
“White lies aren’t lies, they’re the half-truth’s we tell ourselves. It seems simple.”

F.O.B.I (Fear of Being Included)
It wasn’t a lie, not really. Just a half-truth, an arrangement of words meant to mislead. But never lie. No.
Everyone knew Alex was honest to a fault, they had proven it time and time again. It allowed for moments like this, curled up on the couch, cup of tea in hand. An easy apology was already being formed for tomorrow, something came up, maybe the car had broken down. The closer to the truth the better, although ‘I didn’t want to come’ wouldn’t work. For now, Alex sent a quick text, something to stop them nagging.
‘Just leaving now.’

RAVENEYE narrowly steals the win! Well done Raveneye, and have an extra 15 easy points for the victory. Brilliant entries, all, but that last one hit me like a ton of bricks. I've never done such a thing to ditch a social obligation. least of all with the family. Certainly not!
