Not sure where to put this, so I'm sticking it in General for now. I just learned about a thing called Mood Boards when planning or brainstorming for a story. Especially to capture mood, etc. It seems like a fun project to collect images and sounds that go along with my historical novel and arrange them in a scrapbook/collage type way. Has anyone else heard of these or made use of them? When looking into them, I came across Milanote and Canva, mood board sites that have the templates and tips to help you build them. Used these before? Know of others?

Oh yeah! I do this all the time on Pinterest. Boards for character design concepts, cool magical-looking trinkets, landscapes, monsters, demons, yadda yadda yadda. And the more you refine a board by adding to it, the more related pins it recommends to you. Never tried those other two though.

Oh, gosh, I collected so much stuff on Pinterest yesterday. LOL. Time sink! But it was useful research stuff, so that's my excuse.
So apparently these mood boards can be turned into attractive marketing tools. "Here's a collage about my book, here's the mood it invokes, aren't you interested in reading it?" kinda thing.
Anyway, I'll give these things a shot and see what becomes of it.

Yep. In my film history class back at Portland State, I made one. My final project was a short movie. I made its mood board with.. oh what was it... urh... online images and a Chef Boyardee "BAM!" meme. Was rather fun.

Huh, I never thought to use Canva for a mood board. I use Canva for making flyers or Instagram posts. It's more of an easy-to-use graphic design site.
I've only ever used mood boards for game design, but that would make sense to use them for stories too.

Anyway, there's a lot of robust templates, design elements, and ways to really dig into graphic design! It's the easiest to use program I've ever found. Much easier than trying to use Adobe Illustrator (which has ten times more detailed design elements, which makes it way too overly complicated and has a ridiculously high learning curve. Canva learning curve is relatively low).
