QUESTION
Since the prompt is situational, does it have to include the line "A lone explorer finds an abandoned..." OR is it *just* that situation, not the exact phrase, that must inspire the entry?

To be clear, what's an 'explorer'? Do they have to be exploring on purpose, or could they just fall in a hole or otherwise get to the unfamiliar thing by accident? Well, I think my entry is finished, except for a final look-over before I sub it. Ugh, I have all of five days to work on mine, since I'm going to be gone most of this weekend and all the following week. Not ideal, for sure. Oh well. Just gonna shoot for it and see if I can hit a target.
How is everyone else doing?

Mine's nearly done; I just keep rewriting it bit by bit. I guess that's what the bulk of the work in a hook contest is supposed to be. Glad we only have to write a beginning, because I don't know what comes next.
