The Reunion

I was so young when he left that I hardly recalled his face. It wracked my mind how he could be out of touch for all these years. I learned, much later, that he had started a new family. A "better" family.

All I wanted to do was talk.

"What are you doing here?" he said, baffled, as recognition set in.

It was as if every moment of my past anger was behind the blow I landed on that perfect, smug face. I walked away.

There was no closure to be had here. But damn, if that didn't feel good.
