By the Light of the Silvery Moon
The quake struck at night. Chunks of the ceiling fell making two holes in the central column of the chamber. The supermoon’s light bathed that column.
The body inside stirred. Its ribs cracked like a crispy cracker, as it gasped, filling its lungs for the first time in hundreds of years.
“Your silver and blessed bindings can no longer imprison me, Aradia?”
His body flexed and screamed in rage, then in pain as his body grew larger and stronger. The chains shattered, and finally Kanys Lupus Wyier, the war-wolf king, once again free, stalked into his mother’s light, and howled.

Amelia Brindle
Amelia Brindle loved riding pillion but to be pilot rather than passenger was her heart's desire and she committed every operational maneuver to memory. However, for now, Amelia relished the wind whistling past her ears and enjoyed the challenge of maintaining her balance. From a crisp midnight sky, the moon beamed benevolently upon her.
Perched confidently atop the bundle of tightly-bound willow twigs Amelia curled her tail in ecstasy. She swiped a with deadly paw at an astonished barn owl, easily outpaced by the aerodynamic broom, and imagined a Walpurgis night when she would be more than a simple familiar.

The Winter Garden
The setting sun illuminated stained glass, depicting great battles in colorful hues. A woman danced into the Winter Garden, black dress descending over bare, filthy feet. Her footfalls fell between botanical wonders, then, halting, she became enamored by red blooms. Unflinching as glass shattered overhead, a flaming arrow stabbed into a wall. "Highness," stuttered a guard. "You should be in safety." "Nonsense. My subjects await." She swept into the crisp air, standing on a balcony overlooking her subjects. They roared in their shiny garments. An oblivious smile, waving, as she cast them red petals over the edge. They love me.
