Say your work of fiction becomes popular enough that your fandom decides to produce pornographic material relating to your characters. In either art, writing, etc. Then one day you just so happen to discover it. Would you be OK with this?
My thing is, as long as nobody is making money from it, then go nuts.

Anyway, I'd freak out, no doubt. Freak out, feel sick, laugh my head off, scrub my eyes with steel wool and hydrochloric acid, then move on praying to God Almighty that I never saw such a thing ever again.
However, if someone was making money off my characters in any fashion whatsoever without my say-so? It's lawyer time and sue their porn-happy asses. Then see how much fun they have. But just fan art or some other equally gross thing? I'd say ... "Um, thanks? Now get a life."

Not completely related to the topic but I recall someone made a successful Kickstarter of a Dean Winchester and Castiel fan fiction. That one really puzzled me because I'm honestly surprised that the person who ran that didn't get any flack from the showrunners of Supernatural.

I wouldn't personally. I mean, fans make art of favorite characters from books all the time. Constantly. Just look up any popular character to see fan art and fanfiction. It's legal so...nothing you could really do about it. They put disclaimers on it saying "these are not my characters" and fanfiction exists everywhere. *shrug* it's gonna happen if you become popular enough. Trust me. |

I'm not sure exactly how I would feel. I'm all for fan fiction and fan art. In that respect I say go for it. As long as they aren't making money off it.
As for pornographic stuff? I don't suppose I really care that much, it would probably annoy me a little, but in principle I say "go nuts". In not in principle against porn, even if it's not my cup of tea.

Valhalla Erikson love that you used a Supernatural gif because in the show the "prophet" writes novels about them and there's tons of fanfic that ships Sam/Dean.  and they are NOT thrilled by it. Hahaha! But whatcha gonna do?

Honestly, I'd feel a little strange at first. I'm not an overly sexual person so I'm pretty shy about that stuff but after the first initial weirdness of it all I reckon I'd be able to shrug it off. It would be like the countless amounts of fan fiction/art out there haha. Also agree with the money side of it that's been brought up too, I wouldn't want someone making money off of my characters in this way...or any way without my permission.
