My name is Valhalla Erikson. I'm an aspiring writer hoping to one day publish his first book. I've been writing ever since college as a hobby then fell out of it. It wasn't until the Pandemic that I've re-awakened my passion of writing and I hope that I'll make a career out of it one day.
Preferred Genres: I like to write fantasy and science fiction. And I'd sometimes combine the two. But I'd like to take common concepts of the fantasy genre and provide a unique spin on them. For example, the Elves in my Urban Fantasy/Cyberpunk story are the world's equivalent to vampires. But not the brooding emo types but the sort you won't want to be alone in a room with.
Interest: I like writing main characters as females. I just find them more fun to write. Especially as I support diversity and equality in my stories.

Hello and welcome - I hope you enjoy your time with us and maybe learn a thing or two.
I too enjoy writing from the female perspective, it is in some ways freeing I think for the writing process. It can be a little challenging to do it justice I think. Back to a male perspective on the next book I think... but i have no real preference, it just depends on the story and the characters.

I'd usually go with the most common approach by writing the characters as people rather than stereotypes. When writing a female character I'd tend to avoid films or televisions interpretations. Because some of the interpretations can be a unfortunate. I'd usually use either those I've interacted with or historical figures as inspiration.

Funny that - when you treat people like people - flawed, imperfect, beautiful people, then your characters come across more realistic and likable. Regardless of identity. In any case there is no rush for publication just learn as much as you can and enjoy the ride.

Omigosh, looking forward to reading some of your genre-bending stories, Valhalla. Bring on those blood-sucking elves. Sounds like a glorious and trippy bit of gruesomeness.
