Creatures with Features
Humans are funny creatures,
created with a myriad of features.
Eyes and hair, our peacock feathers.
On display at single get-togethers
Parading around for non-believers.
Hourglass figures evoke romantic speeches.
Washboard abs, the heroes of beaches.
Erotic creations, our lonesome treasures.
Despite the centuries, they never become old hat.
Humans are funny creatures.
Parental matches include trip to the preachers.
Daughters wails and fears, good enough for the theaters.
Serf’s toil the soil, time naught for such pleasures,
With faith that a good guy is interested in successors.
With love his greatest feature.

Supply And Demand
Even with his colorful garb and tuneful whistle, the wandering hawker was considered by some to be outmoded, antiquated and essentially old hat. Still, his arrival in the little market town remained a much anticipated event for others, who always looked forward to rummaging through his most unusual and fascinating inventory.
Past offerings included a teapot, once home to a dormouse; cuttings from a plant reputed to have sprouted high into the clouds; and a vial of twinkles said to conjure the art of flight.
Upon his departure, many of the village children were reported missing.
But nobody ever seemed to remember that.
