It's the End of the World as We Know It, and I Feel Fine
"A barbecue doesn't seem appropriate, given the circumstances," Leona says, nose wrinkled as smoke dances past her head.
"And why the hell not?" I flip the steaks, admiring the sear. Perfect.
"The world is ending, Jack! The power grid is shot, there's no clean water, all medical supplies used up. We're doomed. And you want a picnic?" She gestures toward the front of the house. I glance up. Through the open fence I see the Deslauriers shove another propane tank in the back of their pickup. Houses are abandoned. Cars full of supplies jam the road.
"What's your point, darlin'?"
