Song of the Siren
My song is fatal. Don’t listen. Stop your ears, lower your sails, catch the wind and flee. I love you. I would not see you drown, crushed against these rocks, new bones among old. You think I like the song I sing? No. It promises velvet arms and moist red lips, but it has yet to deliver.
I would sail away with you, only you, if you can reach me. Jump in! Swim to me. Rescue me from this barren island prison.

Come Out, Come Out, Wherever You Are
The siren sounds again. Is that the all clear? We've been here so very long, I can't tell the difference any more, but I think it's the all clear.
I ask those around me, here in this underground bunker, for confirmation. They don't respond and simply stare with vacant eye sockets. Are they sightless? Are they deaf? Perhaps they whisper among themselves when they believe I'm not listening. Wouldn't surprise me. They never did like to share.
The siren sounds again. Is it an all clear? I can't tell the difference any more, but I think it's the all clear.
