Wishing darling Ludwig a happy 250th today. Here's some Moonlight Sonata to help us appreciate his genius. Think you know this over-commercialized masterpiece? Just listen past the first movement. The 3rd movement especially (starts about halfway through the vid). It's wild, dizzying, explosive, loud.

And how the heck do these pianists play this stuff without resorting to sheet music???

Yeah I remember teaching myself to play the first movement for my piano course and thinking "Wow, so talented am I." Then I found out there was more to it. Much more. That ended that. :lshic:
