I was just linking random words together, and came up with this:
An elephant, who lives on an Island in a large empty area in space, is addicted to swallowing stars with its trunk, gaining more and more mass every time it swallows a star, and endangering the universe.
I think this might be a lousy idea, and perhaps unoriginal. I did not do the exercise for longer than a few minutes. I just linked some random words together into a phrase and expanded it. Here I wrote it as a sentence.

You'll know if you try to write it. Go try expanding it and see. Perhaps write it as an outline if writing the actual story sentence by sentence feels slow and overwhelming at this point.

You had an idea, start writing on it, a few hundred words and see how it goes.

Short stories, novellas novelettes you need to focus on the idea or the moment. SO go with that. So I don't see why it wouldn't be a good idea for a short or longer. Just have to be more focused on the Kaiju that is about to be born

UNORIGINAL?! It sounds wonderfully whimsical and like it has a unique setting. Both things are HIGHLY desirable in publishing. DO IT.
