Missed Opportunities

Conspicuously situated on a corner, I walked by this mysterious, coin-operated machine every day on my way to work. It didn't seem to serve any purpose, and even became the subject of some debate in the warehouse breakroom.

"It's just a parking meter."

"No, it's a residential area! Vending machine?"

"Don't be stupid. What's it going to do, produce air?"

Next morning, I decided to settle the debate once and for all. Oddly, its face prompted for a date. Setting it for yesterday, I inserted a coin and soon found myself in the breakroom, reliving the same day over again.
