IN A SPIN
"HALF PRICE!! EXCEPTIONAL BARGAINS!!"
Music to Sharon's ears.
She didn't like revolving doors. Reminded her of leaping into a skipping rope while it turned. Always a total disaster. Still, speediest access to "Exceptional Bargains!"
She missed exiting first time around. Repetitive performances failed miserably and rotations quickened. To keep balanced, Sharon maneuvered her feet over chrome strips at the bottom of the glass and clung to the rail. She felt giddy.
A blurred sign indicated "Fire Department Contacted."
Day became night. Perhaps liberators would arrive soon. Maybe they'd decided nothing could be done.
Didn't really seem important any more.

Life as a Human
Humans are a simple, repetitive species. At every interaction, my mouth lifts into something called a "smile." They respond similarly, then begin discussing mundane subjects; the weather, the workplace, their tiny spawn. Facial expressions shift and change regularly, with the animated varieties interspersing wild gestures. I've learned which expressions are appropriate, lest they take offense -- like the time I laughed at an elderly kinsperson's death. Worse, they lead non-elective lifestyles, whereby they're forced into perpetual servitude. It's a wonder they're so willing to endure such tediousness, accepting their fate with utter complacency. I'll be thrilled when this survey has concluded.

“There’s something in the water.”
———————————————-
“Heave Ho, young lads, and make haste for the harbor!”
Over and over and over again.
The oars come up, then down even harder.
Over and over and over again.
‘Round the backside, the sun falls, burnt out. Up the frontside, the storm comes apace.
And dare I say I have never been farther From home which I left my wife and my daughter And now the beast rises from up the red waters
Over and over and over again
Stuck in its teeth, flesh ripped from bone Death. So sweet. So cold.
It kills over and over and over
