One of those I follow on Twitter had posted she was looking for this. I responded, she sent the requirements and I wrote it.
I have another similar essay that should be posted by the end of the month, but you’ll be able to read it.

Here is the essay that was read on the pod cast. Literature and Music
Music is a language, though many can’t read the notes, they understand it’s sounds and enjoy its affects. Who hasn’t wanted to be a lead guitarist or singer. It has its own pacing and voice. It’s not surprising that there’s an intersection with literature. Yet, what is that intersection. Music is all about catching the interest of the listener with those first few bars. Then adding the lyrics to evoke something inside the listener. If you remember the movie “2001: A Space Odyssey”, that opening music just drew you in, then add in the opening scene. The “Pink Panther” theme song makes you see a pink panther and perhaps even Inspector Clouseau as well. Writing a book and creating music have their similarities. Rough drafts and first cuts. Collaborators (ex: Bernie Taupin would write the lyrics and Elton John would write the music.) A writer gets an idea from a chat room question about vampires, like I did. Plotting-what the song/story is about, making edits, getting feedback from test groups or readers. Then final changes and it goes to editing. Ever notice if the band you like songs have a similar sound, just like an author’s books? Songs are for the most part, are short affairs, like a flash story. They work with the lyrics, be they poetic or story. People like certain kinds of music and or musicians and not others, like readers enjoy a certain genre or author. A catchy tune can get your foot taping like an engrossing story can literally not let you put it down. The why for this, I offer, is that for a song, we see ourselves in the song or that the song has meaning to us. For me, an example of this is the song “Killing Me Softly” by Roberta Flack. We have songs that match our mood, and books we enjoy rereading, over and over. The first book that I couldn’t put down was “Lucky Starr and the Moons of Jupiter”, and I was in 4th or 5th grade. Both appeal to our senses and imagination, becoming good in either takes long hard work, and perhaps most importantly, both have the same purpose. They relax us when uptight or tense. Sooth us when hurting, entertain us, and make us happy. We bond with strangers who enjoy the same music and writers. Buy mugs, shirts, books, records, posters, and movie/concert tickets.
