You would think that the thick calluses on his hands would offer better protection from the sharp rock. That his lungs would be used to inhaling dust every other breath. The sweat that trickled down his face still stung as it landed in his eye. Another step gained even as every muscle screamed at him to stop, to take a break.
A breeze teased against his face as he neared the top of the incline. The end forever close but never in sight. A loose stone, a fated stumble. And Sisyphus watched the boulder roll down the hill.

On the morning of the eighth day, he was no more than a shadow of his former self. Filthy, hungry and exhausted, he should have rested on the seventh but, like so many previous attempts, the finished product had been another epic fail and he could not unwind. Yet again, he would have to start over. Reconstruction of the barren boulder was becoming more of a problem than originally envisioned.
He sighed. He cursed. He flexed sore muscles.
With crossed appendages (and bleary eyes equally as crossed), he sincerely hoped to get it right this time.
"Let there be light...!!!"
