Generators
Write the language's rules and these generators output words/syllables following those rules. Great for creating names, especially the second link (gives you more control over the structure and output). 🌏 www.zompist.com/gen.html🌏 akana.conlang.org/tools/awkwords/
Was surprised this wasn't already a thread! Please add any conlang resources you've found helpful ^^

Oooo! I'mma check these out.
Our Legendfirian called Bird seems to be our current conlang guru. Like, I'm totally intimidated by the language(s) they've invented. I believe they read a book to accomplish this, but I'm too lazy to do that. Online generators are more my speed at this point. Grateful for these! Thanks!

Yes, I read a few books on how to create conlangs! one of the suggested sites (the zompist one) is the author of two of the books I studied. My favorite site though is VulgarLang: www.vulgarlang.com/ Very detailed language generator. It then gives you data to port it into world anvil or create a dictionary pdf.

I've read zero books, I just ask my conlang friends if I need expertise, and otherwise I bumble my way around by feel since I speak a few unrelated languages, so I have an idea of the flexibility of language. In a book no one's gonna be scrutinising the few pieces of conlang, so as long as it looks like it works, it works. XD My favorite site though is VulgarLang: www.vulgarlang.com/ Very detailed language generator. It then gives you data to port it into world anvil or create a dictionary pdf. Yo that's .... wow that's detailed haha! Looks like it costs you if you want to use it properly, which is totally fair since someone had to go through the effort of making it. [/quote]

It's worth the cost! Just a one-time fee - no subscription (thank heavens, else I'd never use it). Most of the languages I've been making for my Elivera world, I used Vulgarlang to generate the dictionary -- I have a list of words (5000 or so) that are tied to the geomorphology and culture of which society's I'm crafting the language for. So if y'all wanna use it, here's my Science Fiction-based list of words. Both are text documents. I am not fond at all of the word-list that Vulgarlang provides as default (it's a bit over four thousand, but it's very generic fantasy, so not a lot of flavor).
If you follow the same set-up I did for the word list, it's easy add in more flavor so you have a dictionary that fits the culture of your characters better. Feel free to use mine and edit it to fit yours. (Mine has a lot of words related to Elivera and its cultures as FYI).

For those like me who've yet to master English and got clobbered in a story for creating/using a conlang, can the use of thos esites be explained or an example provided? VulgarLang has a guide section that is pretty robust: www.vulgarlang.com/guides/Here is one of my conlangs, where I used VulgarLang to help me give it depth. I mostly needed it to create tables and to expand my dictionary: www.worldanvil.com/w/elivera3A-the-lost-ones-aidanbird/a/tsaCC84szaCC81ian-language-1Right now, it is part of my world anvil, which is where I store all my worldbuilding for Elivera (I only have ported about 1/3 of my notes into it, so it's ongoing process lol). This can be helpful for anyone who may want to use my created world for a roleplay game and want to add some flavor with words from the various languages of Elivera. These conlangs are also helpful for naming geographical landmarks and regions, towns/cities, people or animals, plants, etc. I may sometimes include a phrase specific to that culture, and write it in the conlang (using italics), upon which I will have it defined in the back of the book OR have another character who isn't fluent sort out the translation to verify they understood. Adds some depth to the tale. I also do it for fun. I love making them.

Bird,
Thank you very much for those. I've bookmarked them for future use.
