My Three Sons
Show of hands. Any of you readers have older siblings? I’ll tell you about mine. Extroverts par excellence, headline grabbers, social media vampires, and prima donnas all rolled into one neat package. Sam and Gabe; I’m sure you’ve heard of them. They use dad’s PR firm, at no cost. Have a gullible target audience, and phariseesian media boosters. I wish they’d be more diligent about their jobs. Now I must get involved, smooth things out.
I’m Harold, Keeper of Purgatory. It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’ve a book coming out next week; Words from the Confessional: A Family History.

The Romantic
Back in high school I had a friend named Sarah. Sarah had silly dreams about beautiful strangers who fell in love with her at first sight and swept her away to exotic places like Marrakesh or Naples. Old-world souls who treated a girl like a princess.
“A girl needs dreams,” she argued.
I loved her, but she was an idiot.
Prom night, Sarah didn’t show up to the dance. She had left a note on her pillow: “I found him. He’s perfect! I’ll call you from Milan.”
Police found her body in the cemetery, two puncture wounds in her throat.

Young Blood
Cuticles torn and ragged. Dirt embedded deep and gritty beneath the tiny fingernails. These are the necessary result of having to claw through sodden earth and tangled roots in order to reach the cool night air. Disparaged as a pariah and feared as a predator, she is one of the contemptibles. Her fate inevitable despite her tender years.
But this sanguisuge generation is a new breed, not bound by the laws of existence that have reigned for centuries. Comfortable with technology and social media, they are no longer subject to the simple effect of a wooden stake through the heart.

Poll added! God luck all! Yes! Would love to have some God luck. 'Course, if one is God, I bet they don't need luck.

All three entries are very good... it's hard to pick. My Three Sons - I really like the quick witted rant and the twist at the end. Very Enjoyable! I couldn't help the chuckle. The Romantic - Blunt, dark, and brooding... perhaps a warning for those living in a world of delusion and how we often see what we want to see in the people we love and ignore hard truths, also very well written. Young Blood - It's well written and also quite enjoyable, but i did find the direction a little... predictable? It's still very good though, and probably better than what I would have entered.
Well done to all of you.

LOL I swear though, that's my most common typo. That, and 'hoesntly.' Hoesntly, why does my brain let its fingers get ahead of it so often, sheesh. Anyhoo! RAVENEYE takes the lead - have an extra 15 easy points for the win. And thanks jlthoreau for the comments! Muchly appreciated
