Instrumental
Even through the distorted glass, the aged patina of the brass suggested the item would be authentic. A few dulcet notes from the expert lips of a would-be buyer confirmed the notion.
The pawnbroker, a bluff and hearty fellow with red hair, had been in possession of the instrument for far longer than memory served. He was only too happy to unload the waste of space and let it go for a song.
Leaving the hock shop, Gabriel tucked the horn under his arm and ascended a nearby sunbeam to the heavens. Sounding of the last trump was now assured.

A Stairway Before Heaven
Virgil gestured at the stairs. A door with cloud born sunbeams and bubbling lava pits, was at the top.
“The next part of your journey of desires. Hell is what it is. Heaven isn’t what Hell isn’t. Earth isn’t that place in between either. Here you’ll experience the knowledge of not being in hell, the longing, the wondering of what heaven could be. Those sunbeams and lava bubbles are your reminders.”
“Lead on McDuff.”
“I’m not that person. However, on this you don’t have me as a guide. The three guides you’ll have are your intelligence, wisdom, and moral fiber.”
