In my last post, I said I felt like writing a little before bed. That became staying up till 4 because the story turned a lot of fun to write, though maybe still not the best idea in terms of wisdom. It's almost done; just need to fill in a few parts.

I have about 500 words and like what I have so far, but there's so far to go. :') I hope to make more progress tomorrow and Friday - luckily Friday is a holiday and, other than some people scheduled to do an installation, I should mostly have free time.

Thank you, Scintilla, I appreciate it! Approaching 2k words now, hoping to have this finished up this afternoon. I'm still liking what I have, though obviously I might not have a lot of time for editing (which seems normal for me, lol). Edited or not, this has been fun and I hope it turns out okay.
I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with for this, too. Fairy tales are some of my favorites. I haven't done any fairy tale retellings myself, but I've read or watched plenty.
And I agree with Raveneye's comment before, this one seemed particularly messed up, hah. I had never heard of this one before.

I....have nothing. I've written and deleted several things. My brain isn't braining right now. As soon as Cleo was home from the hospital, I got sick. Just now starting to feel better but I didn't have any energy to write. Wish I did, I want to come up with something for this contest but I won't be able to in a few hours.
Much luck to everyone! Can't wait to see the stories.

And I agree with Raveneye's comment before, this one seemed particularly messed up, hah. I had never heard of this one before.
Neither had I. I just opened a bunch of public domain fairy tale books and ctrl-F'ed for 'witch' and 'monster' to find something Halloweeny. I wasn't sure about my choice at first, but it ended up being pretty fruitful at least for me.
I'll wait for your entry to close the contest.
If there's anyone else out there planning to submit today, you can let me know too.
