Not sure if I'm up for this challenge. Is it necessary to register in order to participate (in the event I decide to dive in head first at the last minute)?

Not sure if I'm up for this challenge. Is it necessary to register in order to participate (in the event I decide to dive in head first at the last minute)? Honestly, the participant list has always just been kind of a formality. It's a good way for the host to show/track interest in the contest, but you're not locked in if you register OR locked out if you don't No pressure either way.
I've been tinkering with an idea of my own, feels so generic, as always. We'll see how well it rounds out this week(end). How's everyone doing so far?

Its strange lol. I wrote a flash fiction story in this POV back in college. About a muscle car restoration. It is like commanding someone the story as if they're meant to do it in real life, and using you in unique ways. Or using a Jedi Mind Trick on your reader. LOL, yeah, that's the impression I've gotten when reading stories in this POV. *waves hand* You want to register for this contest. Flash fiction is one I an awful at. I might jump in for the fun of it.

I might jump in for the fun of it. Absolutely! Flash is a mindshift when one is used to writing long epic stuff. Whew, I think I finally grasped the concept, or at least one way to handle it, when I read the advice about Flash capturing a single event for a single character. That helped me soooo much.

Well, I think I nailed down an entry. Yay. Didn't think I'd get to it this week, honestly. Been a bit chaotic around here with germs, house makeovers, and travel. Eesh.
But! Got something written today. Now to let it sit and see if it's junk.
Edit: actually, my entry is TOO SHORT! How often do I have to ADD content to an entry? ... This is the first time ever. LOL!

Bahahaha! This is hilarious to me. I added content, and I'm still 4 words short. I'm so used to having to trim a story down, that this is feels bizarre and hilarious. Adding content is fine and all, but it's got to be blended into the rest. That's the challenge. Hmm, guess I'll stick some adjectives in somewhere and call it good. SMH. Edit: Got it! Whew.

I'm at 776 words. I guess I figured that for flash fiction, I just needed to come up with a simple, non-complicated idea and write one short scene of it. The fact I have to get to 1000 is actually forcing me to come up with more details, which is good. I know I have an issue with being too un-detailed because I'm shy about coming up with stuff that might have more social connotations than intended, or something. Here I'm having to add details rather than more scenes.

Yeah, I had to grow my character/situation in a couple areas I hadn't considered, dig deeper there, and voila! More words. Hehe. Good luck, Scintilla.

Oh lord, didn't realize it had to be at least 1,000 words. Shorter stuff is really my forte...assuming I even have one. Gonna have to rethink this and I'm running out of time.

Nicely done, Raveneye. Have to admit, I'm still floundering.

Awesomesauce! I've got a couple entries in so far, and remember, all: You can continue to edit and resubmit them to me up until the submission deadline this Thursday.
I'm still bashing my head against the wall for my own entry. I've got an ongoing project that keeps dragging my focus away, and two ideas for the contest that feel too basic and too evasive in turn.

Well, I've "cobbled" something together. Have to have a long hard think about whether it's worth submitting or not though. Still, it's something of a personal triumph to have at least overcome the challenge...even though it might be total rubbish.

24 HOURS LEFT TO ENTER Yes, you read that correctly. Owing to my work schedule, I have to go to bed at a decent hour, and so I won't be able to post the entries at midnight as I usually would. I'll be home from work Friday afternoon, and will post them soon after, roughly 2:30ish PM BUT it just occurred to me, instead of just having it be dead air Friday morning, I'll just extend the deadline until Noon (12 PM) CST, Friday the 16th. Youll all get an extra 12 hours to write, edit, or revise and resubmit your entry. And then I'll post everything for voting a little over 2 hours afterwards.
