Against all odds, I finished my entire poem in the space of two days. O.o So I've just been gradually picking and pruning at bits of it for the last week or so.
It's been kind of nice for once LOL
Was tough picking that inspirational line, cause the source has a lot of good material. But I think I picked the best one for the content.

I'm having so much fun with mine. I started writing on the first day and I really like my idea; it's just executing it that's hard. I've rewritten so many times and went through a bunch of different variants on sound and form, and I'm right about to do that again because I came up with a more interesting way to begin the poem last night.

I wonder how long most poets spend writing and rewriting a single poem. I've worked on this one for a couple hours on each of several days. It's made me feel closer to my source material in a surprising way as I looked at it for a while and thought how it could inform my piece. I should do quote-inspired poems more often to gain this interesting intimacy with other literary works and songs!
After work today I'll give it a final look and submit.
