Does chose our characters mean we use characters from a story we’ve written?
Also, we’re try to help each other return home, so theoretically we could each be in a different genre/location as long as the letters are delivered.

Love the cross genre concept. Characters should be original creations, same as any other contest, and absolutely! Your characters can be as far apart (or as close) as need be.

Well, sure! I was gonna hop on and start asking folks, so this takes care of that. Thanks! We better get started. I'll get anxiety attacks if we procrastinate. Let's move this to a Discord channel in LF's server. If anybody else wants to do the same, feel free to create your own channel there. If you want the channel to be accessible only to the two of you, we can create "roles" for you and only someone with that role can access your channel. If that sounds too techy, Discord DMs work, or PMs here. Yay, this is exciting. Sure can! I just dumped some brainstorming into the channel you made! Also, I shared this contest on my Mastodon account, and it's already getting retooted by folks. So we'll see if newcomers hop in for some writing practice. Sweet! Newcomers from Mastodon would be wonderful! Also, I've responded to your Discord message with my thoughts, and I'm sorta in love with the idea taking shape.

Retooted Right??? I died laughing and sorta cringed when I learned that "tweets" on Mastodon are called "toots." Mastodon toots would be seriously gross, by the way. Says Raveneye:

Come in from the cold to a nice warm toot- Still time to register, for any of you lurking from the outside. At this rate it'll be a duel to the death between our two teams.

This is such a cool idea! Unfortunately I have an assignment due next week so the timing doesn't work for me. >.< I've always wanted to try something like this so if it ever comes up again hopefully I'll be free to toss my hat into the ring. For now I'll stick to cheering from the sidelines.
Happy writing!

So far and only the beginning but learning things about my writing process. Not bad things and they make sense. First time in any type of collaborative writing project.

Coming up on a week left for entries. How's everyone doing?
As a reminder, since I've gotten some questions about this contest in the meantime, REMEMBER: as stated in the announcement, your entry this time around IS NOT a typical narrative one like we usually pen. Your characters will have to write to one another in the form of letters, as if you are both penpals separated by time and a large ocean. Like writing back and forth with grandma, or maybe even sending emails/post to your buddy in social media.
Think more, "dear so and so, this has transpired in your absence," and less, "He wrote a letter that said x, y, and z"

Darn. This looked like it would have been fun. Looks like it's only got a week left, though, and I wouldn't have a partner. I've been away from LF for a while, and for some reason the last few weeks something's been nagging me to log in. I guess this is why, lol.

Doing fine though having problems understanding epistolary style of writing. It' slike against everything allthe experianced writers told me NOT TO DO. Yet I'm working with it.

Getting much better at this style, well more into it. It’s like a game of tennis without announcers.

Bird is probably freaking out about now. I know I am.
