My goal here is not to embarrass Alatariel.
I read all the introductions and am encouraged by the brave courage I read there. In my past, I too lived in England for 4 years as a weather officer forecasting weather at the same air bases my brother flew from in B-24 bombers in WWII. That was a time when I was stupid and chased mini skirts rather than visiting Cornwall, the Isle of Man, or even the British Museum. My brother was a certified Mensa genius, I am just uncertifiable. My first Masters in Cybernetics took 11 years to complete. So I relate to those chasing that horse's tail. Today, I heard of compensatory blessings (which I never heard of before). This forum is such. It is a gift and a blessing to us all in this time of loss of free movement, loved ones, hope, and 'ole fun.
I am a total newbie and SciFi is my genre. It is fun dreaming the adventures and trying to express them in writing. The internal mental fun of being in my own mind world is great and do-able anywhere. Now I am finding there are styles, point-of-views, techniques, process, and things called tropes, perhaps more. Nano-factories, non-classical sub-quantum physics, emerging technologies, astronomy, cybernetics are my sandbox. Presently, for enjoyment, I am the project manager of a group of volunteer computer scientists who are seeking to apply and evaluate emerging technologies to automatically translate into English the vast Chinese printed and stroke genealogy going back 3000 years ago. The results will apply to all pictogram based Asian languages. So, I am learning Chinese and Python somewhat-ish. That reminds me, I have to put some time on that.
Unexpected products of researching my first novel, are a love and marvel of the Faroe Islands, the Isle of Man, and the Scilly Isles (check Google images out of these places).
Thank you for this forum (a place to go further in writing) and being friends.
