Hi all, My name is Pixie, and I am about to take part in Nanowrimo for the 9th time! I am friends with Farida in real life, and she recommended this forum to our writing group. She said you guys give great critiques, and I trust her word! This year for Nano I'm going to write an alternative history novel where Nina Fawcett travels to the Amazon rainforest in search of her lost explorer husband Percy Fawcett. Wish me luck!

Greetings pixie and that sounds like an excellent idea for a book, ( or a tv series) then again I am a history major. Looking forward to seeing some of your writing.

So pleased to have you, pixie! Your novel sounds lovely. I'm interested to learn how you're going about researching for such an exotic setting. My sister traveled to the Amazon a couple of years ago and showed me pictures of how two different colors of water flowed side-by-side and never mixed. One current was black, one was brown. Craziest thing! Anyway, I hope the new forum can live up to expectation. We have a lot of work to put in to grow it to be like it was, so I hope you decide to stay around. Very exciting to know you're a part of Farida's writing group, too! (Thanks for recruiting new folks, Farida!) Thanks for the welcome, and for the tips! Research wise I'm learning pretty heavily on a book called The Lost City of Z, by David Grann. Finding information on Percy Fawcett is easy, finding out about his wife and kids is harder! My novel will be a mixture of real people and actual historical facts, and fiction.
